O, enter, Lord, Thy temple, Find now Thy place of rest, Who first breathed us, the earth-born, A second birth more blest. And from Thy holy dwelling, Thou deignest to abide, Forever in us reigneth, Adored, and magnified!
Thou art, O Holy Spirit, The true anointing oil, We are now consecrated, In heart, and mind, and soul. By Christ, whose life is cleansing, And rescues us from sinning, O, may we serve Thee truly, As prophets, priests, and kings.
Thou, Holy Spirit, teach us, Our lives to live aright; With Psalms of sweetest music, With prayers of valiant fight. May these now pierce the highest, As crowns before Thy throne, To live with full conviction, "Thy will on earth be done!"
CALL TO WORSHIP: Psalm 143:10-11
Elder:"Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God!
All:Let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground!
Elder: For Your name's sake, O LORD, preserve my life!
All:In Your righteousness bring my soul out of trouble!
O praise the Lord, His deeds make known, And call upon His name; Sing ye to Him, His praises sing, His wondrous works proclaim. Let hearts rejoice that seek the Lord, His holy name adore; Seek ye Jehovah and His strength, Seek Him forevermore.
Ye children of God’s covenant, Who of His grace have heard, Forget not all His wondrous deeds, And judgments of His Word. The Lord our God is God alone, All lands His judgments know; His promise He remembers still, While generations go.
While yet our fathers were but few, Sojourners in the land, He swore that Canaan should be theirs, And made His covenant stand. He suffered none to do them wrong, In all their pilgrim way; Yea, for their sake were kings reproved, And covered with dismay.
SCRIPTURE READINGS:Isaiah 44:1-8; Romans 5:1-8
(Congregational response: "He is our God; we are His people.")
AFFIRMATION OF FAITHBelgic Confession (1561) Article 20
Elder: We believe that God-- Who is perfectly merciful and also very just-- sent His Son to assume the nature in which the disobedience had been committed, in order to bear in it the punishment of sin by his most bitter passion and death.
All:So God made known His justice toward His Son, who was charged with our sin, and He poured out His goodness and mercy on us, who are guilty and worthy of damnation, giving to us His Son to die, by a most perfect love, and raising him to life for our justification, in order that by him we might have immortality and eternal life.
WE WELCOME YOU TO OUR LORD'S DAY SERVICE! We are observing "Phase Two" protocols established for Shelby County. We are also grateful for the congregation respecting the current guidelines while on our campus. We are in the midst of our sermon series, "Day of the Holy Spirit." On this Lord's Day, we will again explore the far reaching implications of the Day of Pentecost described in Acts 2. May God add His blessing to our time of worship and discipleship.

Acts 2:12-21 12 So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “Whatever could this mean?”13 Others mocking said, “They are full of new wine.”14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words. 15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day. 16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: 17 ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. 18 And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy. 19 I will show wonders in heaven above And signs in the earth beneath: Blood and fire and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord. 21 And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the Lord Shall be saved.’
